Voters in two Bacolod campuses of Carlos Hilado Memorial State University underwent an orientation on the upcoming 2025 National and Local Elections and learned how to use the new Automated Counting Machine (ACM) during the roadshow conducted by the Commission on Elections this month.
Comelec Bacolod City conducted the polls roadshow for students, and employees at the Fortune Towne Campus on Jan. 6, 2025 and at Alijis Campus on Jan. 13, 2025.
Election Officer Atty. Revo Sorbito of Comelec Bacolod City led the orientation at Fortune Towne to prepare the CHMSUan voters registered for the May 12 polls.
In the roadshow, the election office underscored the important reminders, especially to first-time voters, including the duration of the voting period, and special accommodation for senior citizens, pregnant women, and persons with disabilities.
Comelec also introduced the ACM’s features and functions, including the number of ballots it can accommodate and its functionality in case of brownouts.
Voters at CHMSU also practiced shading and feeding the sample ballots to the new ACM.
Last Nov. 2024, eight faculty members of CHMSU underwent the Comelec training for trainers on operating the new automatic counting machines (ACMs) for the 2025 midterm elections.
“This is part of our commitment to a ‘clean’, fair, and transparent May 12, 2025 National and Local elections,” said Prof. Jose Rabbi Malaga of the College of Education.
Held from Nov. 22 to 24, 2024 in Boracay Island, Aklan, the training program Department of Education Elections Supervising Office – Technical Support Staff (DESO-TSS) Trainer for Visayas Group (Western Visayas) introduced the new ACM, its enhanced features, as well as the updated processes for the upcoming polls.
