Social Science Department held “Pagkilala: A Rite of Passage” Pinning Ceremony for internship students at the Function Hall, Green Building, Talisay (Main) Campus on February 1, 2023.
The ceremony signified the start of the students’ deployment in their internship fields.
Aryjay Y. Alvarado, DPA, PhD, College of Arts and Sciences Dean, gave his warm welcome to all the guests present during the event. Robert S. Pardillo, PhD, Social Science Department Chair, followed with his own message of gratitude to the students, parents, guardians, faculty, and administrators.
Soledad D. Estares, JD, CAS OJT Coordinator, introduced the guest speaker, CHMSU alumnus Edmar D. Villanueva, Senior Agrarian Reform Technologist and Public Information Officer of the Department of Agrarian Reform – Negros Occidental.
In his message, Villanueva shared his insights from his own student internship. He emphasized that being an intern is an essential experience for every student in preparation for his or her professional career. “This ceremony is not a mere ritual or formality, it is a symbol that you are now ready to head-butt and to hand-to-hand combat with the real world. It is a test for all your learnings, character, and attitude,” he said.
The students were presented on-stage and nameplates were pinned by their parents and guardians.
The ceremony closed with the singing of the class song “Believe” by Barbie and the Diamond Castle.
