CHMSU volunteers turnover donations for victims of Tropical Storm Paeng in Binalbagan

A total of 230 families with 800 individuals received aid from members of CHMSU Binalbagan Campus on October 30, 2022 at the Binalbagan Gym after being displaced by Tropical Storm “Paeng”.

The Municipality of Binalbagan and other parts of Negros Occidental were placed under cyclone winds Signal No. 1 by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on October 28 as Tropical Storm “Paeng” accelerated over the Philippine Sea. With the storm’s landfall in the area, numerous homes were destroyed by floods and strong winds.

CEA Coordinator Sheila Ticar, together with the USG and its Adviser Eduard Advincula, gathered cash and in kind donations from faculty and students of Gen Ed Organizations in CHMSU Binalbagan Campus for the residents severely affected by the storm. Volunteers had distributed bottled drinking water, 35 packs of biscuits, 200 packs of noodles, and 50 canned goods to the residents of Brgy. Enclaro, Brgy. Canmoros, Brgy. Caingin, Brgy. Progreso, and Brgy. San Teodoro who have been temporarily sheltered at the Binalbagan Gym.
